Additional new projects are planned for the upcoming year.

The training cost is $195, and registration deadline is January 10, 2018. The fee includes all training materials and is due after your application has been approved. The course is limited to the first 30 registrants.

For 2018, the 13-week training course is scheduled to begin January 17, 2018.  Classes will be held Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 9 PM at the Blount County Public Library.

Graduates of the 2016 Master Gardener Training Course

The warm early spring weather was a perfect way to bring the 2016 MG General Training Course to a close.  On Wednesday, April 6th, there were twenty five eager and avid gardeners who completed the 12 week course and received their “graduation” certificates.  There was a great array of food - everyone brought a dish to pass and John Wilson, director of UT Extension Blount County, presided over the ceremonies.  On hand was BCMG President Laurie Smalley who congratulated the interns and urged them to become active and contributing members of the association.

The General Training Course is held annually and this is the second year the classes were held in the evenings.  James Hutchison serves as the Education Coordinator and thanked his committee members Mike Peterson, David Burchfield, and Evelyn Weisskopf.  The interns now embark on obtaining their certification status by completing 40 hours of volunteer service.  Congratulations to all and welcome to the BCMG family!
